Children, ranging in age from six weeks through five years, are enrolled in the early learning program at 4 Kids. Our curriculum is based on a holistic approach that includes child, parent/guardian and teacher in identifying and addressing academic, emotional, cognitive and psychological needs for each child.
For each age group, a carefully planned curriculum outlines what children will learn, along with the teaching strategies we use to achieve those goals. Because reading is the foundation for success in school and the workplace, each curriculum’s major focus is promoting emerging literacy. As well as literacy we focus on math, science and technology, through our “First Steps to Math and Science” program. But many other factors also contribute to school success, and we work to make sure that enrolled pre-school children are “school ready” before they enter kindergarten. (Click for more information on school readiness.)
Our classroom environments are designed to promote successful learning as well as safety, comfort, and stimulation. Every day includes multiple enrichment activities designed both to be fun and to reinforce the curriculum. For instance, art and music are woven throughout the day; every classroom has a pet to learn from; and the outdoor education area is the source of many lessons. Our updated outdoor education area which includes various play structures, butterfly garden, sand area and water play is designed to nurture creativity and gross motor skills.
Zadie was involved in an horrific automobile accidents when she was only three-years-old. After the accident, Zadie had a long recovery process and endured frightening nightmares that impacted her ability to participate fully at school.
At Heritage 4 Kids Early Learning Center, Zadie had a safe environment in which to talk about her nightmares. Her teachers listened and found the best way to help her through this life changing situation. Through play therapy conducted in her classroom, Zadie was able to overcome her nightmares and enjoy being a kid again!
