Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit program (EITC) allows corporations to direct their state income tax money to qualified local educational institutions. Depending on the amount donated and the timeframe, a business can quality for a tax credit of 75%, 90%, or even 100% of its contribution.
The EITC program was recently expanded to allow the participation of thousands more businesses by including personal income tax liability from “flow-through entities” such as an S-corporation, partnership, or LLC (many medical and legal practices now qualify).
Heritage’s 4 Kids Early Learning Program is eligible for all three EITC designations: Scholarship, Educational Improvement, and Pre-Kindergarten Scholarship. This allows us to help children from economically distressed communities receive the high quality educational and after-school support they need for future success.
Over the past five years, generous businesses such as Equitable Resources, Levin Furniture, PNC Bank, UPMC Health Network, Huntington National Bank, Mine Safety Appliances Company, Gateway Health Plan and Union Railroad have contributed almost $600,000 through EITC to support our children’s programming.
