For every ten 4 Kids graduates who complete K-12 in the local schools, the school system can save more than a million dollars in avoided costs for special education and repeated grades! That’s a stunning fact, and just one of many long-term benefits to society from this Heritage initiative.

4 Kids provides high-quality early care and education through multiple programs at several locations. We are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, and we have earned the maximum number of stars for which we’re eligible in Pennsylvania’s Keystone Stars Quality Child Care Initiative.

Many 4 Kids families are struggling with poverty and its consequences, but 4 Kids care and education produce remarkable results. Academically and in social and emotional development, our “graduates” are level with, or even ahead of, their more advantaged peers. That translates into success in school—and in life.

4 Kids has already helped more than 3,500 young children prepare for school, and our policy is that no child will be excluded for financial reasons. You can learn much more at the 4 Kids website.

The 4 Kids staff writes a column of parenting advice for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. With generous funding from Highmark, we have gathered more than 100 of those columns, plus family activities and health information, into a book: Raising Your Young Child in the Real World. As a service to families, the contents of the book are available for download.

Please visit Kards4Kids, where you can see (and buy) charming, useful greeting cards—with proceeds benefiting 4 Kids.
