WorkLink and its Ship of Zion subsidiary provide free scheduled van transportation that helps people get to work, job training, child care, and life’s other necessities.
We have almost 6,000 registered riders and we’ve provided more than 600,000 rides to date. The service WorkLink provides is vital for our riders, many of whom are transitioning off welfare into the job market, don’t have access to an automobile, and live in communities that aren’t served by standard buses.
WorkLink is an excellent example of productive collaboration among a wide range of organizations. Click here to read about our partners and funders.
Download a brochure (large PDF) that describes WorkLink in more detail. (In it, Heritage is identified by its previous name, Heritage Health Foundation.)

A brief look at our service

Collaborating with other organizations, Heritage has been a leader in securing JARC funding for work-related transportation programs. One such effort, the Access-to-Work Interagency Cooperative, has helped bring more than $40,000,000 in federal and state monies to the region. ATWIC programs provide riders with almost a million annual trips to hundreds of employment centers. A national evaluation found that ATWIC programs, such as WorkLink, are efficient, innovative, and cost-effective.
WorkLink can help make transportation easier for individuals and businesses in our service area. We meet with groups to register riders and offer transit counseling; we coordinate service with other agencies; and we help businesses understand how WorkLink can enhance recruiting and provide transit support for employees.
